International Express Service

International express delivery refers to the express delivery and logistics business conducted between two or more countries (or regions). For example, Italy has a company specializing in clothing. It has 5000 stores in 60 countries and sells about 50 million pieces of clothing every year. Its headquarters is in Italy, and all work is carried out through 80 agents. If a franchise store finds that a certain style of clothing needs to be replenished, it will immediately notify a designated agent, who will immediately notify the Italian headquarters of this information. The headquarters will then feed this information back to the international express distribution center, which will then pack, assemble and deliver the goods within a certain time according to the needs of the franchise store. The whole express delivery process can be completed within one week.

Characteristics of international express

1、 The difference of express delivery environment, different laws and regulations, humanities, customs, languages, scientific and technological development and hardware facilities.

2、 The universality of express delivery system, the complexity of express delivery itself, and the particularity of international express delivery make it difficult to operate and face more risks.

3、 The informatization requirements of express delivery determine its progressiveness. It has higher requirements for the provision, collection and management of information and requires the support of international information systems.

In a word, a very important feature of international express is the difference of express environment in different countries, especially the difference of express soft environment. Different logistics applicable laws in different countries make the complexity of international express far higher than that of domestic logistics in a country, and even block international express; Different levels of economic and technological development in different countries will cause international express delivery to be supported by different technological conditions, and even some regions cannot apply certain technologies at all, forcing the level of the whole international express delivery system to decline; Different standards in different countries also cause difficulties in international "integration", which makes it difficult to establish an international express delivery system; The customs and cultures of different countries also limit international express delivery.

Characteristics of international express transportation

International express transportation is the transportation between countries and regions. Compared with domestic cargo transportation, it has the following main characteristics:

(1) International express transportation involves international relations and is a foreign-related activity with strong policy. International express transportation is an integral part of international trade. In the process of organizing cargo transportation, it is necessary to have extensive direct or indirect business contact with foreign countries. This contact is not only economic, but also often involves international political issues. It is a foreign-related activity with strong policy. Therefore, international express transportation is not only an economic activity, but also an important foreign affairs activity, which requires us not only to handle various businesses with an economic perspective, but also to have a policy concept and engage in international transportation business in accordance with China's foreign policy requirements.

(2) International express transportation is a long-distance transportation with many intermediate links. International express transportation is the transportation between countries and regions. Generally speaking, the transportation distance is relatively long, and it often requires the use of a variety of transportation tools. Through multiple loading and unloading, it needs to go through many intermediate links, such as transshipment, change of transportation mode, etc. Through different regions and countries, it needs to adapt to different laws and regulations of various countries. If problems occur in any of these links, the whole transportation process will be affected. This requires us to organize and closely link up, so as to avoid disconnection in some links and bring losses to transportation.

(3) International express transportation covers a wide range of areas, and the situation is complex and changeable. International express transportation involves many departments at home and abroad, and needs to deal with cargo owners, transportation, commodity inspection agencies, insurance companies, banks or other financial institutions, customs, ports and various intermediary agents in different countries and regions. At the same time, due to different laws and policies in various countries and regions, different trade and transportation habits and business practices, different financial and monetary systems, and changes in political, economic and natural conditions, international express transportation will have a greater impact.

(4) International express transportation has strong timeliness. Timely shipment of import and export goods and timely delivery of goods to the destination are of great significance for the performance of import and export trade contracts, meeting the demand of commodity competitive markets, improving market competitiveness and timely settlement of foreign exchange. In particular, some fresh commodities, seasonal commodities and highly sensitive commodities require rapid transportation and timely supply organization to improve the competitiveness of export commodities and consolidate and expand the sales market. Therefore, international express transportation must strengthen the concept of time, strive for time and speed to win.

(5) The risk of international express transportation is high. As there are many links, long transportation distance, wide coverage, complex and changeable situations, and strong timeliness in international express transportation, changes in the international situation along the transportation route, social unrest, various natural disasters and accidents, as well as war, blockade and embargo or piracy activities, may directly or indirectly affect international express transportation, resulting in serious consequences, The risk of international express transportation is high. In order to pass on the risk loss in the transportation process, all kinds of import and export goods and means of transportation need to apply for transportation insurance.

(6) International express delivery is slower than commercial express delivery. The query of website information lags behind and has less access to countries. Once there is a problem, the query can only be made in writing for a long time.

Composition of international express

At present, China International Express is the most important part of the express business. It is the main business of "giants" in the express industry, such as EMS, DHL, UPS, FedEx, TNT, ARAMEX, etc. The annual business volume is growing at a rate of 30%. It has played a decisive role in China's foreign trade work, made contributions to China's economic integration into the global integration, and achieved remarkable social and economic benefits.

Modern air express is the development and continuation of traditional air freight, derived from the air freight forwarding industry. Therefore, to understand and master the international express business, we should also learn the business knowledge related to international freight forwarding. However, international freight forwarding business is not the scope of this book. This chapter only gives a leading overview of relevant knowledge points such as "import and export operation procedures and customs policies and regulations".

International information system

The international information system is a very important support means for international logistics, especially international intermodal transport. The establishment of international information system is difficult because of management difficulties and huge investment. Due to the high level of logistics information in some regions of the world and the low level in some regions, the information level will be uneven and the establishment of information system will be more difficult.

At present, a better way to establish the international express delivery and logistics information system is to connect with the public information system of the customs of various countries, timely grasp the actual situation of various ports, airports, and intermodal routes and stations, and provide support for supply or sales logistics decisions. International logistics is the first field to develop "Electronic Data Interchange" (EDl). International logistics based on EDI will have a significant impact on the internationalization of logistics.

necessary condition

The worldwide socialized mass production will inevitably lead to different international divisions of labor. No country can take all the responsibilities, so international cooperation is needed. The international flow of goods and services is composed of business flow and logistics. The former is conducted by international trading institutions according to international practices, and the latter is completed by logistics enterprises according to the production and market structure of each country. In order to overcome the contradiction between them, it is required to carry out international logistics in line with international trade.
